Get a taste of the "Best Burger in America 2022" in two pop-up venues from November 29 to December 4
Don't worry, you can still pay in cash if you don't have a crypto account!
Cryptocurrency meets food in Bored and Hungry, a one-of-a-kind burger shop and the first NFT-themed restaurant from the Food Fighters Universe.
Based in Long Beach, California, it’s themed around the Bored Apes Yacht Club (BAYC) which, according to crypto experts is arguably the most famous NFT collection today.
It’s an intriguing concept that potentially gives us a view of what our future could look like, thanks to the Tasteless Food Group for helping bring their flagship items to our shores, a restaurant group that builds modern, contemporary concepts that understand the cultural, technological, and culinary landscape of this generation.
This amazing collaboration with Bored and Hungry takes the burger at the following venues this week:
Check them out at the Philippine Blockchain Week at the Marriott Hotel from November 29 to December 1 for a limited-time-only pop-up!
Stall 7 at The Grid Food Market from December 2 to 4 (many thanks to Beefier for letting the team use their kitchen!)
Bored and Hungry was started by entrepreneurs Andy Nguyen, Kevin Seo, and Philiip Huynh, who are also the founders of the Food Fighters Universe.
Andy Nguyen is no stranger to the restaurant industry. Before Bored and Hungry, Andy has opened over 10 restaurants including ice-cream chain Afters, with 27 locations in California and Nevada, Matte Black Coffee, and Dough & Arrow.
In March 2022, Andy acquired three NFTs, spending a little over $267,000 on Bored Ape Yacht Club #6184 which is now their main logo, as well as between $65,000 and $75,000 each for two Mutant Apes. These apes became the main attraction of Bored and Hungry—from the logos to the design and packaging.
Kevin Seo is also a co-founder of Bored and Hungry and the Food Fighters Universe, and is their “Chief Megaphone.” Though his career started in Fortune 500 companies focusing on manufacturing, distribution and logistics, he is now focused on bridging digital and physical experiences by building the first NFT restaurant group.
Philip Huynh is another co-founder of Bored and Hungry, and the Food Fighters Universe. As the group’s “Chief Cyborg,” he is focused on overseeing logistics and operations of the restaurant group.
Aside from their BAYC theme, another reason that makes Bored and Hungry unique is that they accept not just credit cards but also Ethereum ($ETH) and ApeCoin ($APE).
Starting as a 90 day pop-up in California, Bored and Hungry became an instant hit. On their first day, they saw a line of up to 1,500 people, most of which were part of the Web3 community from around the world who wanted to be part of NFT history.
For their Manila pop-up, Bored and Hungry will be bringing their Bored OG Burger (P595) by Chef Fernando Valladares and Golda Valladares, who are also behind Trill Burgers, named the “Best Burger in America 2022” by Good Morning America. You can also order the Border OG Burger Combo with fries for P795.
So what do we think about the burger?
The OG Burger is really simple: smashed burger, cheese and onion sauce on a soft potato bun. It was my first time eating a burger with layers of cooked
crispy beef (I literally thought they were crispy cheese edges but it's actually meat - woah) Fries are also amazing, just make sure to eat them while their still hot!
Apary from the delicious smash burgers, Bored and Hungry attracts a community of BAYC fans who definitely go crazy for these apes.
According to co-founder Kevin Seo, one of the craziest stories he witnessed during Bored and Hungry’s first pop-up was “ when we were giving away free burgers to Ape Holders and someone new to NFTs transferred his ETH and bought a Mutant Ape while waiting to order his burger, which at the time was a $70,000 USD purchase!”
Bored and Hungry is part of the Food Fighters Universe, a restaurant group that aims to bring together real life experiences with the world of Web3 and digital assets through food. For more information, visit https://foodfightersuniverse.com/.
