#DaytimeDrinking Series: Menya Kokoro

Street history: from an area that used to be synonymous to war, violence and aggression, Bonifacio Global City turns into one of the best business and residential districts ever built in Manila (at least that's what I think), as it continues to sprawl with many (or if I may say, A LOT) of great discoveries when it comes to food, drink and everything else that jives with your current lifestyle.

On Part 2 of our #DaytimeDrinking Series, we took a quick ride to Bonifacio Global City for some izakaya style dining in the middle of the day

Menya Kokoro opened a few years back in Uptown Mall BGC, and has always been #1 on my list when it comes to satisfying my quick Tokyo Mazesoba craving or what others would call 'soupless ramen'.

But not a lot of people know that you can also get by with a few cold bottles along with some small and super affordable dishes, izakaya style at Menya Kokoro. And with the current pandemic encouraging people to go and also enjoy time outdoors, we found a perfect spot for you and a couple of friends so you can do what we do best - safe, socially distant daytime drinking sessions and lunches, of course!

Get your bottles of Kirin Ichiban and cans of addicting ready-to-drink cocktails from Suntory with plates of Prawn, Pork or Wagyu Yakitori or simple side dishes. Some of our favorites are their light and crispy Karaage, Gyoza, Edamame and Takoyaki.

But why stop at appetizers when you can enjoy your drinks with your main dishes too? Only because no Menya Kokoro food trip is complete without enjoying a bowl of Mazesoba.

So how do you eat mazesoba? Just simply mix everything and serve it a splash or two of Kombu Vinegar and Mushroom Shoyu Soup. Ugh, just talking about it now is already making my mouth water.

Finish the noodles, and complete your meal with an extra boost of carbs with a small portion of Oimeshi, which transforms your mazesoba to a flavorful rice dish. So good with a few more spikes of Kombu vinegar to balance out the bold flavors of the meat and sauce. Yum!

Before we get you excited, alcoholic drinks are only available for dine-in. But all the rest of the dishes featured above can be availed for delivery too! Just check out our quick guide about Menya Kokoro below. Cheers!
